Private Label Compressed Towels: Sizes, Materials, Packaging and MOQ
Share
A compressed towel is a disposable towel pressed into a small tablet. Add water and it opens into a full face, hand or bath towel. Because it takes so little space, it has become a standard item for travel retail, hotels, airlines, spas, gyms and outdoor brands, and a popular promotional gift.
For a private label buyer, the range of choices is wide: from a candy-size tablet that opens into a small face towel to a full 70 x 140 cm bath towel. This guide explains the formats, materials, tablet shapes and packaging, and what to send a factory for an accurate quote.
1. Choose the Format and Size
Start with how the towel will be used. That decides the size, and the size decides the weight of fabric you need.
| Format | Expanded size | Typical weight | Common uses | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini and coin face towels | 20 x 22 to 21 x 27 cm | 40 to 70 gsm | Hotel amenities, restaurants, airlines, spa kits, travel tissues | 55 gsm coin towels |
| Face towels | 24 x 30 cm; also 25 x 25 or 20 x 20 cm | 70 to 90 gsm | Travel retail, gyms, spas, makeup removal | 24 x 30 cm coin tissues |
| Hand and refresher towels | 28 x 50 or 30 x 60 cm | Around 80 gsm | Airlines, gyms, beach and travel kits | 30 x 60 cm towels in a tube |
| Bath towels | 70 x 100 or 70 x 140 cm | 80 to 90 gsm | Hotels, spas, camping, travel kits, promotional gifts | 70 x 140 cm bath towels |
As a guide to weight, a 70 x 140 cm bath towel at 80 gsm weighs about 150 g. If you sell into several channels, a common pairing is a face towel for daily use and a bath towel for travel and hotels.
2. Choose the Material and Surface
- 100% viscose: Most of our compressed towels are viscose spunlace. It is soft, absorbs quickly and keeps the cost down.
- 100% cotton: Cotton spunlace, usually 50 to 80 gsm, for brands that want to sell a 100% cotton product.
- Blends: Viscose and cotton blends, and a silk and cotton blend for small face towels that can also be soaked with toner as a mask sheet.
The surface texture changes how the towel feels and cleans. Options include pearl dot, waffle, honeycomb mesh, woven plaid, 3D embossed and plain. Ask for samples of two or three textures in your chosen size before you decide.
3. Choose the Tablet Shape
The towel can be pressed into a round coin, a square, a rectangle or a roll. Small face towels can be pressed down to candy size, about 3 x 1 x 1 cm. Round coins are the most familiar to consumers; square and rectangular tablets pack more neatly into boxes and kits.
Standard sizes and shapes are the quickest route. A new tablet shape or size may need its own compression mold, which is charged once.
4. Choose the Packaging
| Packaging | Typical count | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Individual candy wrapper, foil or PE wrap | 1 towel | Single-use amenities, sampling and gifts |
| Clear tube | 5 or 10 towels | Gyms, travel retail and beach bags; branded with a sticker or printed tube |
| Resealable bag | 10 or 20 individually wrapped towels | Travel retail, airline and restaurant supply |
| Box | 100 or 500 towels | Hotels, restaurants and spas buying in volume |
| Bath towel pack | 1 or 5 towels per bag | Hotels and travel retail |
| Color set | For example 14 towels in 7 colors | Gift and travel retail |
Your logo goes on the packaging: the wrapper, the tube, the bag or the box. We print bags and boxes in our own packaging workshop, so artwork proofs are handled in-house.
Compression also cuts freight: a container holds far more compressed towels than folded ones. Our article on compressed packaging and freight costs explains how to plan cartons and container loads.
5. Scented and Essential-Oil Towels
Buyers often ask for scented or essential-oil compressed towels. Our current compressed towels are all unscented. A scented version needs scented material, and that material has its own minimum of roughly one ton, so it only makes sense for large, repeat orders. If scent is important to your product, share your expected yearly volume and we will check feasibility before you invest in packaging.
6. Production Capacity
Compressed towels are made on dedicated lines in Guangdong, China: an automatic compressed towel line with a capacity of up to 50,000 towels a day, and a compressed bath towel line with a capacity of up to 200,000 a day. Compressed towels can also share a container with our face towels, bath towels and cotton pads.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the MOQ for private label compressed towels?
At Little Cotton, compressed towels start from 20,000 packs. The minimum is the same for tube packs as for bags, boxes and individually wrapped towels. Each printed packaging design needs its own minimum.
Can you make scented or essential-oil compressed towels?
Our current compressed towels are all unscented. A scented version needs scented material, and that material has its own minimum of roughly one ton, so it only works for large, repeat orders. Tell us your expected yearly volume and we will check whether a scented version is feasible.
Should I choose viscose or cotton?
Most of our compressed towels are 100% viscose, which is soft, absorbent and cost-effective. Choose 100% cotton spunlace, usually 50 to 80 gsm, if you want to sell a 100% cotton product. Viscose and cotton blends are also available.
Where does our logo go?
Your logo goes on the packaging: the individual wrapper, a tube sticker or printed tube, the resealable bag or the box. We print bags and boxes in our own packaging workshop.
How does a compressed towel open?
Add water: a few drops for a small coin towel, more for a bath towel. The tablet loosens within seconds and can then be unfolded into a full towel.
Do custom sizes or shapes cost extra?
Standard sizes and tablet shapes are the quickest and simplest route. A new tablet shape or size may need its own compression mold, which is charged once and confirmed in your quotation.
