Cutting Freight Costs: Compressed Packaging for Disposable Towel Logistics

Ocean freight remains a major cost for procurement teams in Europe, Russia and the Americas in 2026. Disposable hygiene products such as face towels and bath towels make it harder: they are light but bulky, so a container fills up by volume long before it reaches its weight limit.

If your products are packed loosely, part of what you pay to ship is air. To protect your margins, look for a manufacturer that plans packaging and loading with freight cost in mind.

Stop Paying to Ship Air: Compression Options

There are two main ways to cut the volume of disposable towels:

• Compressed towels: The towel itself is pressed into a small tablet or "coin" that expands when the user adds water. This gives the biggest space saving, and suits travel retail, hotels and airlines. • Pressed packs and cartons: Regular folded towels are packed tightly so each retail pack and master carton takes up less space. How far a pack can be pressed depends on the fabric, GSM and how the towel needs to look and feel when opened, so ask for a sample of the compressed pack before you approve it.

Spunlace fabric recovers well after pressing, but heavier, textured towels need more care. Testing samples of the final pack is the best way to balance volume and feel.

Planning the 40HQ Container

Packaging is step one. The next saving comes from how the cartons are sized and loaded. Our 20-person in-house logistics team plans the carton sizes and the loading plan for each order, so cartons fit the container well and less space is wasted.

They can also plan mixed containers: face towels, bath towels, compressed towels, cotton pads and other products in one shipment, so you do not need a full container of each item. Ask us for a loading plan with your quotation and compare the units per container with your current supplier.

Order Terms

• MOQ: Disposable bath, hand and compressed towels from 20,000 packs; face towels from 5,000 paper boxes or 20,000 bag packs. Each printed packaging design needs its own minimum.
• Samples: Free stock samples (you pay the courier freight); custom samples in 3–7 days, with the sampling fee refunded on your bulk order.
• Payment: 30% deposit, 70% balance before shipment (T/T).
