Disposable Face Towel Packaging: Boxes, Soft Packs, Hanging Bags and Rolls Compared

Disposable Face Towel Packaging: Boxes, Soft Packs, Hanging Bags and Rolls Compared

For a private label face towel, the packaging decides more than the look of the product. It sets your MOQ, your unit cost, how many packs fit in a container and how your customer takes out each towel. Two brands can sell the same 20 x 20 cm viscose towel and end up with very different products because one chose a pop-up box and the other a hanging bag.

This guide compares the main packaging formats for disposable face towels, explains why their minimum order quantities differ, and shows which format suits which customer. If you are still choosing the towel itself, start with our guide to viscose vs pure cotton face towels.

1. The Formats at a Glance

Packaging Typical count Best for MOQ at Little Cotton Example
Pop-up paper box 30 to 50 towels Beauty brands, supermarkets, hotel rooms 5,000 boxes Pop-up box, 30 towels
Magnetic or rigid gift box By design Premium ranges, gift sets, spas 5,000 boxes Gift-box towels
Soft pack 50 to 100 towels Value retail, online stores, salon refills 20,000 packs Pop-up soft pack
Hanging bag, bottom-pull 80 to 160 towels Salons, spas, bathrooms 20,000 bags Hanging bag, 160 towels
Perforated roll 50 to 150 sheets Salons, spas, bathrooms Follows the bag or box around the roll Roll, 60 sheets
Drawstring bag By design Retail, travel, gifts One print run of about 30,000 bags Box or drawstring bag
Bulk bag by weight 100 to 600 g Salons, spas, distributors Confirmed in your quotation 600 g bag

2. Boxes: Shelf Appeal and Protection

Boxes are the most common choice for retail. A pop-up paper box gives you a large printed surface for your brand, keeps its shape on the shelf and keeps the towels clean after opening, because only one towel is exposed at a time. Boxes take more space than bags, so fewer packs fit in a carton and a container.

  • Pop-up paper box: The standard retail format, usually 30 to 50 towels. A 25 x 30 cm towel is often packed 50 to a box.
  • Magnetic or rigid box: A premium presentation for gift sets and high-end ranges. It costs more per unit but can be kept and reused by the customer.
  • MOQ: From 5,000 printed boxes for both, because boxes are printed in smaller runs than bags.

3. Soft Packs: Lower Cost and Lighter Freight

A soft pack is a printed PE pack with a pull-out opening. It is lighter and more compact than a box, so more packs fit in each carton, and the packaging cost per unit is lower. Soft packs suit value ranges, online stores and salon refills, usually with 50 to 100 towels per pack.

The trade-off is the MOQ: printed bags are made on a film press that runs tens of thousands at a time, so soft packs start from 20,000 printed packs. You do not have to fill all of them at once. The first towel order can be smaller, and the remaining printed bags are kept for your next orders.

4. Hanging Bags and Rolls: Made for Professional Use

In a salon, spa or bathroom, a box on the counter is not always practical. Two formats are designed for professional settings:

  • Hanging bag with a bottom-pull opening: It hangs on a wall hook and the towels pull out from the bottom, one at a time. Counts of 80 to 160 towels mean fewer refills during a busy day. MOQ from 20,000 printed bags.
  • Perforated roll: A coreless roll of 50 to 150 sheets that tears off cleanly. Rolls are packed in a bag or box, so the MOQ follows that packaging.

Salons that buy in volume also use bulk bags sold by weight, from about 100 g to 600 g per bag.

5. Drawstring Bags: For Retail and Gifts

A drawstring bag gives the customer a reusable pouch, which works well for travel and gift ranges. Drawstring bags are printed in runs of about 30,000 bags, so they suit brands with steady volume. As with soft packs, the first towel order can be smaller than the bag run.

6. Match the Folding to the Packaging

  • Interfolded: Each towel pulls the next one up. Needed for pop-up boxes, soft packs and bottom-pull hanging bags.
  • Flat stacked: Usually used for drawstring bags, gift boxes and bulk bags.
  • Perforated roll: Sheets joined by perforation lines and torn off as needed.

Tell us the packaging before sampling, because the folding has to match it.

7. Check the Size Before You Design the Pack

Common towel sizes are 15 x 20, 20 x 20, 20 x 22, 25 x 30 and 26 x 30 cm, in weights from about 65 to 100 gsm. Not every size runs on every machine: 25 x 30 cm is possible, for example, but 25 x 27 cm is not. Confirm the towel size and count first, then design the box or bag around them, so the artwork fits the final pack.

8. Which Format for Which Customer

  • Beauty brands and retail chains: Pop-up paper boxes, or magnetic boxes for a premium line.
  • Value ranges and online sellers: Soft packs of 50 to 100 towels.
  • Salons and spas: Hanging bags, perforated rolls or bulk bags.
  • Hotels: Pop-up boxes for guest bathrooms, or small soft packs for amenity trays.
  • Travel and gift ranges: Drawstring bags or small boxes.

A common approach is to start with one format, then add a second for another channel, for example a box for retail and a hanging bag for salons. Each printed design needs its own minimum, so plan the order of launches with that in mind. Our guide to starting a private label face towel brand covers the other steps.

9. What to Send for an Accurate Quote

  • Your sales channel and market, for example salons in France.
  • Towel size, weight and material, or a reference product.
  • Packaging format and towel count per pack.
  • The number of printed designs.
  • Estimated quantity per order and how often you expect to reorder.

We print bags and boxes in our own packaging workshop, so artwork proofs are handled in-house. Our face towel lines have a capacity of up to 600,000 towels a day. Browse the disposable face towels collection or see our OEM disposable towel manufacturing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MOQ for private label disposable face towels?

At Little Cotton, boxed face towels start from 5,000 printed boxes, including magnetic boxes. Bag formats, such as soft packs and hanging bags, start from 20,000 printed bags. Each printed design needs its own minimum.

Why do bags have a higher MOQ than boxes?

Printed bags are made on a film printing press that runs tens of thousands of bags at a time, while boxes are printed in smaller runs. The minimum follows the packaging, not the towels inside it.

Can I order fewer towels than the bag MOQ?

Often, yes. The printed bags are produced in one run, but the first towel order can be smaller. The leftover bags are kept for your next orders. Ask us to quote both the bag run and your first towel quantity.

Which packaging is best for salons and spas?

Hanging bags with a bottom-pull opening and perforated rolls are the most practical in a treatment room: one towel at a time, no box on the counter. Soft refill packs of 50 to 100 towels also work well.

Which packaging is best for retail shelves?

Pop-up paper boxes show your brand clearly on the shelf and keep the towels clean once opened. Magnetic or rigid boxes suit premium and gift ranges. Soft packs are the lower-cost option for value ranges and online sales.

Can you make any towel size?

Many sizes are possible, such as 15 x 20, 20 x 20, 20 x 22, 25 x 30 and 26 x 30 cm. But not every size runs on every machine: 25 x 30 cm is possible, for example, while 25 x 27 cm is not. Confirm the size with us before you design the packaging.
