Private Label Wet Wipes: Multi-Packs vs Individually Wrapped, MOQ and Specs

Private Label Wet Wipes: Multi-Packs vs Individually Wrapped, MOQ and Specs

Wet wipes are one of the easiest product lines for a brand or distributor to add under its own label. But "wet wipes" covers very different products: a 120-count baby pack, a single sachet on a restaurant table and a jar of pet glove wipes are made and packed in different ways, and their minimum order quantities differ a lot.

This guide explains the two main formats, how to choose the fabric, liquid and packaging, and what to send a factory so you get an accurate quote the first time.

1. Two Formats, Two Very Different MOQs

The first decision is the format. It sets your MOQ, your unit cost and the channels you can sell into.

Format Typical packs MOQ at Little Cotton Good for
Multi-wipe packs Soft packs of 10 to 120 wipes with a resealable sticker or flip-top lid; boxes; bulk bags 20,000 packs (box or bag) Baby care, makeup removal, pet care and household cleaning in retail
Individually wrapped wipes One wipe per printed sachet, sold loose or in boxes of 10 or 30 100,000 pieces (for example 10,000 boxes of 10) Restaurants, airlines, hotels, travel kits, gyms, lash and PMU studios

Why the gap? For private label wipes, the MOQ is set mainly by the printed packaging, not by the wipes themselves. A packaging supplier's press produces tens of thousands of bags or sachets in one run, so a multi-pack is counted in packs, while an individually wrapped wipe, which needs its own printed sachet, is counted in pieces.

Two points that help you plan:

  • Each printed design needs its own minimum. Three scents in three different printed packs means three separate minimums. Using one printed pack with a scent sticker or a small printed area is one way to keep the total lower.
  • Neutral packaging has a lower MOQ. If you want to test a market before investing in printed packaging, ask for a plain-pack quote.

2. Choose the Fabric

Most good wipes use spunlace nonwoven: fibers are bonded by high-pressure water jets instead of glue, which gives a soft, cloth-like sheet. Within spunlace, the main choices are:

  • Fiber blend: Viscose is soft and absorbent; polyester adds wet strength and lowers cost. On some of our wipes the viscose share can be set anywhere from 30% to 100% to match your price and softness targets. Bamboo fiber and wood pulp blends are also available.
  • Weight (GSM): Around 40 to 50 gsm suits skin, baby and pet wipes. Heavier 50 to 80 gsm fabric suits household surfaces that need more scrubbing strength.
  • Texture: Plain fabric feels smooth on skin; pearl and dual-texture surfaces help lift dirt from paws and shoes.
  • Sheet size: Common sizes are 15 x 20 cm, 18 x 18 cm and 20 x 20 cm; small sachet wipes can be as small as 6 x 9 cm.

If you sell in the European Union, check how the fiber blend affects your labeling: under the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, wet wipes that contain plastic must carry the "plastic in product" marking. Wipes made only from cellulose-based fibers, such as viscose and wood pulp, are generally treated differently from polyester blends. Confirm the rules for your product with your compliance adviser.

3. Decide the Liquid

The liquid is part of your product's identity, so settle it before sampling. Typical choices are:

  • Base: A purified-water base, often alcohol-free, for skin and baby wipes; cleaning agents for household and shoe wipes.
  • Additives: Plant extracts such as aloe, tea tree oil for eyelid and lash wipes, or a saline solution for lash and PMU primer wipes.
  • Scent: Unscented, or scents such as aloe, lemon, lavender or a custom fragrance.

Ask for the full ingredient list early, because you will need it for your label. In most markets, the brand owner is responsible for the cosmetic or household product rules where the product is sold. In the EU, for example, skin wipes are cosmetics and need a Responsible Person and a safety assessment. Check the requirements for your market before you finalize the artwork.

4. Pick the Packaging

  • Soft pack with a resealable sticker: The most economical option for multi-packs.
  • Flip-top lid: Keeps wipes moist longer and looks more premium, at a higher unit cost.
  • Boxes of sachets: Boxes of 10 or 30 individually wrapped wipes for retail, travel and gift-with-purchase.
  • Bulk bags or cartons: For hotels, restaurants and airlines that hand out single sachets.
  • Jars: Used for pet glove wipes and other premium formats.

We print bags and boxes in our own packaging workshop, so artwork changes and proofs are handled in-house.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MOQ for private label wet wipes?

At Little Cotton, multi-wipe packs in a box or bag start from 20,000 packs. Individually wrapped single wipes start from 100,000 pieces, for example 10,000 boxes of 10. Each printed packaging design needs its own minimum.

Why is the MOQ for individually wrapped wipes so much higher?

Every wipe needs its own printed sachet, and the sachet film is printed in long runs. One run produces tens of thousands of sachets, so the minimum is counted in pieces rather than packs.

Can I start with plain packaging?

Yes. Neutral packaging without your logo has a lower MOQ than custom printed packaging. The exact quantity is confirmed in your quotation.

Can I choose the scent?

Yes. Wipes can be unscented or scented, for example aloe, lemon or a custom fragrance, depending on the product. The formula is confirmed in your specification before sampling.

Are your wet wipes flushable?

Whether a wipe can be called flushable depends on the fabric and on testing against the standard used in your market, such as the INDA/EDANA GD4 guidelines. If you need a flushable claim, tell us at the start so the material and testing are planned before production.
